Hemroid surgery is normally used when complications arise due to hemorrhoids.
In most situations, hemorrhoids can be cured with creams, ointments or natural methods plus eating good diets.
For those that are suffering from severe hemorrhoid, then surgery would be the only option. Surgery can only be done by qualified doctors.
We have different types of surgeries. These are:
1. Hemorrhoidectomy
This is the traditional form of surgery where under local or general anesthesia, a surgeon make incision around the anus to remove the hemorrhoids. The patient can be awake or asleep but the anal area is made numb. The patient does not need to stay in the hospital for a number of days and usually go home the same day
2. PPH - Procedure for Prolapsed and Hemorrhoids
This is a less invasive procedure used to treat hemroids and prolapsed hemorrhoids, a condition where the hemroids slip out of the anal canal.
With PPH, a device is used to reposition the hemorrhoids and cut off their blood supply. When the blood supply is cut off, the hemroids eventually die off. PPH advantages include
- Patients experience less pain compared to Hemorrhoidectomy
- Patients heal faster including less blood and itching
Issues associated with PPH
- Internal muscles of the sphincter may stretch, resulting in short term or long term disfunction
Other methods of treating hemorrhoids include
- Rubber Band Ligation
- Laser Hemorrhoid Treatment
- Natural Methods
